MEBO Group Kicks Off New Chapter Toward APEC 2025
The journey toward APEC 2025 officially accelerated on June 30, 2025 as the “Bridging Development Horizons in the Asia-Pacific” 2025 APEC CEO Summt Global Roadshow—the flagship precursor to the APEC Business Leaders Forum—launched in Beijing.
Key Stakeholders Open the Global Dialogue
This high-level event brought together leading voices from across the Asia-Pacific region’s business and policy spheres to discuss shared development goals and cross-border cooperation strategies.
Hosted by the APEC Business Leaders Forum Secretariat, the opening session featured key figures including Mr. Seong Woo Lee, Vice Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Secretary-General of the APEC Business Leaders Forum Secretariat; Ms. Monica Hardy Whaley, President of the U.S. National Center for APEC; and Mr. Zhang Shaogang, former Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and ABAC China Member. Mr. Andrew Dy, General Manager of the Asia Business Forum, moderated the opening segment.
Kevin Xu: APEC’s True Power Lies in Human Connection and Shared Purpose
Among the distinguished guests was Kevin Xu, Chairman of the Board of MEBO Group and former Chair of the APEC Host Committee. Invited as a key contributor, Xu participated in an exclusive roundtable dialogue alongside senior leaders from sectors including finance, healthcare, new energy, and wellness. Panelists included Ms. Catherine Simmons, Head of Government Affairs for Citi Bank in North Asia, Australia, and South Asia, and Ms. Monica He, Director of U.S. and Trade Policy at Organon.
Drawing on his leadership roles in APEC 2023 and 2024, Xu offered insights into building resilient, inclusive economies through innovative partnerships and sustainable business practices. “The essence of APEC goes far beyond trade—it’s about fostering connection and a sense of belonging,” Xu remarked. “The platform serves as a bridge for dialogue, co-creation, and collective solutions—principles that lie at the heart of corporate social responsibility.”
Xu emphasized MEBO Group’s commitment as a mission-driven enterprise to developing standardized medical networks that serve refugees, disaster victims, and underserved communities worldwide. The roundtable was moderated by Mr. David Wu, Vice Chairman of Deloitte China, and sparked dynamic exchanges of ideas.
MEBO Signs Strategic Agreement for APEC 2025
A major highlight of the event was the formal announcement of global sponsors for the upcoming APEC Business Leaders Forum in Korea. Representing MEBO Group, Vice President Liu Gang signed a strategic cooperation agreement, reaffirming MEBO’s role as a driving force in the Forum’s international collaboration efforts.
The successful Beijing stop of the APEC 2025 Global Roadshow marked a pivotal moment in the run-up to this year’s Forum. It signaled the region’s shared resolve: to build bridges of understanding and shape a future of openness, resilience, and innovation across the Asia-Pacific.
