MEBO Group Deepens Collaboration with KCCI to Support 2025 Korea APEC Summit
On July 20, 2025, Kevin Xu, Chairman of the Board of MEBO Group and former Chair of the APEC Host Committee, met with Mr. Seong Woo Lee, Vice Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Secretary-General of the APEC Business Advisory Council Secretariat, in Seoul. The meeting followed their successful encounter during the APEC Roadshow on June 30 and aimed to further strengthen collaboration for the upcoming APEC Leaders' Week in Gyeongju, Korea.
Attendees also included Mr. Jongchul You, Director of the APEC Business Summit Secretariat, and Mr. Laurent Arribe, Senior Manager of Global Initiatives at the Bay Area Council.
MEBO’s Continued Commitment to APEC Innovation
During the meeting, Chairman Xu reaffirmed MEBO Group’s long-standing partnership with APEC and its commitment to promoting high-impact side events. He emphasized plans to continue supporting the Silicon Valley Forum and PAPER magazine showcase as signature APEC programs, aiming to feature them again at the 2025 summit.
Addressing logistical challenges facing the host city of Gyeongju, Xu proposed a series of constructive solutions to streamline planning and execution.
Mutual Support and Gift Exchange Cement Ties
Vice Chairman Lee expressed strong interest in Xu’s proposals, highlighting their practical value for optimizing summit preparation. He pledged KCCI’s full support for MEBO-led initiatives within the APEC framework and affirmed both sides’ confidence in the summit’s success as a platform for regional prosperity and cooperation.
To commemorate the occasion, the two sides exchanged gifts rich in APEC heritage. Mr. Lee presented an official set of commemorative coins from the 2025 APEC Summit in Korea. In return, Chairman Xu gifted the Korean edition of MEBO’s moist exposed burn ointment and a premium MIAGE skincare set—both of which have served as official gifts at past APEC summits (San Francisco 2023 and Lima 2024, respectively), symbolizing continuity and shared purpose.
Looking Ahead to APEC Korea 2025
The Seoul meeting further solidified the growing partnership between MEBO Group and KCCI. Both parties reaffirmed their shared vision of advancing APEC’s goals through collaboration, innovation, and inclusive growth.
As a strategic partner of APEC from 2023 to 2025, Kevin Xu is scheduled to attend the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju and has been invited to speak on October 29 during the thematic session titled “Global Collaboration for High-Quality Digital Healthcare.”
