Students from Rongxiang Xu College Visit Tsinghua University, Advancing China–U.S. Youth Exchange
On July 7, 2025, a student and faculty delegation from the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Los Angeles, arrived in China to begin a multi-day in-depth academic and cultural visit. On July 17, the delegation made a special trip to Tsinghua University. This visit not only marked a significant inter-university academic and cultural exchange but also served as a concrete response to the initiative announced by President Xi Jinping on November 15, 2023, at the U.S. Friendly Groups' Joint Welcome Banquet in San Francisco, where he pledged to invite 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over the next five years.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in on-site exploration and interactive dialogue, gaining a comprehensive appreciation of the unique charm of Tsinghua University. As they strolled through the Tsinghua campus, the group experienced a harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural atmosphere—where the Moonlit Lotus Pond, classical architecture, and modern teaching facilities together embodied the seamless integration of tradition and modernity.
A key part of the visit was a tour of Tsinghua University’s History Museum. Through its collection of treasured artifacts, detailed exhibits, and vivid explanations, delegation members gained a deep understanding of the university’s illustrious development since its founding.
This meaningful interaction between Chinese and American students not only enhanced mutual understanding and friendship but also planted seeds for future cooperation and joint exploration between the youth of both nations.
In 2020, MEBO Group made its first donation to the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Institute) at Tsinghua University, launching cooperation in areas such as aging-related issues and healthcare system development. In 2022, this partnership was further strengthened through the SDG Institute’s hosting of the conclusion and evaluation meeting on the “Research on a Regenerative Medicine System for Chronic Wounds,” which, for the first time, established a policy-level analytical framework for regenerative wound care in response to the burden of chronic wounds in aging societies—offering a Chinese solution. In 2025, the cooperation was upgraded again, with MEBO making a new round of donations to Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management and the SDG Institute to establish the “Friends of Tsinghua—Kevin Xu APEC Regional Public Policy-SDG Scholarship,” focused on supporting Asia-Pacific youth in sustainable development governance research. This visit represents a further extension of MEBO’s deepening collaboration with Tsinghua University.
