The 2025 International Diabetic Lower Extremity Symposium was successfully held from October 22 to 23 in Bali, Indonesia. Organized by the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair (ISRMWR) and co-hosted by the Indonesian Society of Surgeons and the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation in America, the conference gathered over 300 experts and scholars from more than 20 countries to explore breakthroughs in diabetic foot treatment and wound care innovation.

Opening with a traditional Indonesian dance, the event featured remarks from Professor Aristidis Veves, Director of the Harvard Medical School Rongxiang Xu Center for Regenerative Therapeutics; Professor Heri Setyanto, President of the Indonesian Society of Surgeons; and Ms. Li Li, Chairwoman of the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation in America. All three emphasized the importance of advancing global collaboration in regenerative medicine and diabetic wound management.

Over two days, the symposium hosted ten sessions covering key topics such as surgical reconstruction, minimally invasive vascular interventions, regenerative therapies, and multidisciplinary treatment models. The “APEC Dialogue” session, featuring experts from China, Indonesia, and New Zealand, highlighted each nation’s approaches to diabetic wound care and further strengthened regional cooperation under the APEC framework.

The symposium also included country-focused sessions for Indonesia and China, introducing localized applications of regenerative medical technologies and sharing integrated approaches combining traditional and modern medicine.

With its precise structure, in-depth dialogue, and rich academic content, the 2025 conference not only provided new insights for global diabetic foot care but also strengthened cross-economy medical cooperation through the APEC platform. The event attracted broad coverage from major international media outlets, highlighting its academic influence and global relevance. ISRMWR announced that it will continue to expand collaboration with APEC economies and international partners, advancing wound healing science and contributing to the sustainable development of global health.
